We at Aangan Arts Collective (AAC) aim to employ a multifaceted approach towards fostering alternative pedagogical approaches towards neurodivergent children from underserved communities—spanning handbooks, modules, toolkits, and fundraising.
We plan on crafting pedagogical toolkits consisting of handbooks and modules for instructors. The material focuses on the importance of bringing in creative elements into the classroom—visual arts, singing, and movement—while focusing on art pedagogy and accessible lesson plans.
Further, we work in tandem with art therapists to facilitate sessions for the children. This allows us to provide them a safe space to explore and understand their thoughts and feelings in a guided and constructive capacity—assisting them in developing a sense of control over their lives.
Additionally, through funds raised, we intend to collaborate with NGOs to build a multipurpose arts education space. The space would contain the necessary equipment to conduct the classes in the aforementioned toolkits—allowing children to practice their art and learn more about how art can help them.
